Hackney Central LTN

Picture
We have been campaigning for a Dalston LTN, in the area with boundaries of Kingsland Road, Dalston Lane, and Amhurst Road, for a number of years now, driven by the sheer amount of traffic in this area, the air pollution and road accidents we regularly witness.

The council have now published their initial plans for community engagement. In summary, the plans include:
  • A 24 hour bus gate on Shacklewell Lane to stop rat-running between Kingsland High St and Amhurst Road
  • Traffic management on nearby roads, including Cecilia, Foulden and Farleigh Roads to reduce rat-running
  • A banned left turn for vehicles coming out of Ridley Road into Dalston Lane to avoid a short cut between the A10 and Pembury Circus
  • Two new School Streets for Halley House School and Excelsior Academy
  • Green improvements around the junction of Arcola St and Shacklewell Lane, and the junction of St Marks Rise and Ridley Road
  • Improvements to Colverstone Crescent (more on Colverstone here)

You can see the council's initial plans on the Dalston Liveable Neighbourhood consultation pages here. We encourage everyone to understand the benefits of this new scheme which include less traffic in the area, safer walking and cycling, reduced air pollution and shorter bus journey times, then complete the consultation
